Most machine-learning systems collect as much data as they can. A 2026 patent application by Joshua Siegel and Tashfain Ahmed describes a way to measure how much data a task actually needs, then run the device at that smaller data budget. The result is less sensing, storage, transmission, and computation without sacrificing the required output.
Open data
Released datasets include machine acoustics, tire imagery, circuit current, hot-water flow, and pedestrian interaction with automated vehicles.
