Short bio
Joshua E. Siegel is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University and director of the DeepTech Lab. He develops sensing and intelligent systems for machines, vehicles, and manufacturing, with a focus on acoustic diagnostics, embedded expertise, and moving research into use. He is an inventor, entrepreneur, educator, and MIT Research Affiliate.
Longer bio
Joshua E. Siegel directs the DeepTech Lab at Michigan State University, where his group works across acoustic diagnostics, artificial intelligence, connected vehicles, robotics, sensing, and decision support. The lab builds systems that listen, understand, anticipate, and close loops automatically or with human oversight. Siegel’s work includes more than 110 publications, more than nine patents, and more than $1.6 million in direct and indirect PI or co-PI research funding. He has founded technology companies, contributed to international standards, and developed technical and executive education programs. He earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.
